Remembering my mission

I made the realization today that I've been home from my mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to Oregon for nearly 3 years.  I finished my time in the Oregon Eugene Mission 2 days before Christmas in 2008.

It was one of the best experiences of my life.  I took a hiatus from TV, movies, radio, dating, school, etc.  For 18 months my everyday life was filled with sharing the message of Jesus Christ as our savior, studying the scriptures to learn of Him, and serving God's children however I could.

Serving a mission changed my life.  I grew closer to God and Jesus Christ and learned to rely on them.  My testimony and belief in them and in the saving power of the Atonement strengthened.  I developed skills that have helped me in schooling and employment.

I also began to see people how God sees them, and love them immediately.  That is a special gift the Lord gives to missionaries who serve His children.  But He also gives it to all those who ask for it.  Having charity, the love of Christ, for everyone is not easy, but it is possible with the Savior's help.

I want to remember those feelings of love and charity I had, and strive to have them again for everyone I meet.  May we all strive to be filled with Christ's love this Christmas season, and bring Him joy by serving others
