Spring Break Date

I Love Matt.

This past week was my spring break from KSU, so I have been catching up on schoolwork, trying to get ahead on some things, sleep in, exercise, and started watching the first season of LOST over again in my spare time.  It was a break in some ways, but I still stayed pretty busy.

On Friday morning, Matt surprised me by telling me to check my email as he went out the door to go to work.  I had an email from him telling me to go get ready for the day and then go check the trunk of the car for the first clue in a treasure hunt!  I found the first clue which told me to drive to the park in our neighborhood.  The second clue took me to the pavillion in the park where I found Matt sitting at a table.  He handed me a slip of paper that said "What is your husband doing here?  Why isn't he at work?  Ask him about it."

He told me he took the day off so we could have a date for spring break.  He gave me the next clue which said we were going to another park in the city to go geocaching!  We found two different ones, well hidden and fun to find.

Next, we headed down to the Martin Luther King Jr. Museum.  We walked to his house in the historic district of town, and watched a film about his accomplishments.  We walked through the museum and read many of his quotes.  It was very inspiring.  A beautiful mural faces the entrance to the visitor center.

After touring that site, Matt told me it was time to go get some lunch.  We went downtown and grabbed some Subway sandwiches to go, and took them to Piedmont Park, which is Atlanta's equivalent of Central Park.  It is really big, has tons of grassy areas, tennis courts, basketball courts, kid playgrounds, a little lake in the center, and tons of trees.  We sat in a gazebo on the lake and ate our sandwiches, with ducks and geese honking at us to share in our meal.

After lunch, we went rollerblading.  He had found a rental place across the street from the park so we tied our blades on set off.  I hadn't been rollerblading in years.  Very fun!!!

After spending a few hours at the park, we drove to a movie theater and watched Rango, the computer animated movie with Johnny Depp as the voice of a cowboy lizard.  It was really funny, and we had a great time together.

Matt made my spring break amazing!
