I am officially done with my first semester of nursing school! Three more and I will be an RN! It feels great to have a break for a few weeks. Everyone keeps asking me what I am going to do for the break, and I don't even know what to do with myself! just kidding. But really, it is going to be a relaxed couple weeks. Which is good because Summer semester is short, fast, and I am still taking a full load of 3 classes (12 credits) and having a clinical two days a week. So now I will take advantage of the time I have and go to the library to get a couple books I have been wanting to read, and organize some of my stuff.
April was a very full month for us. The usual school and work, plus we did dogsitting, babysitting, went to Nashville for Matt's marathon, worked super hard with the youth for the Atlanta Temple Cultural Celebration for the prophet, and then Matt went to Alabama this past week with our stake to be a "Mormon Helping Hand" doing tornado cleanup. And I was able to attend and speak at my friend's baptism this past Saturday. Yeah, it was a busy month!
Matt will probably write his experience of the marathon on here, but I will give the quick version. He ran the Rock and Roll Nashville Marathon on Saturday April 30th. We got there on Friday and went to the expo to register and walk around. One of the sponsors had a carnival type area where Matt won free earbuds and I won a giant stuffed running shoe. Good times.
We ate some pasta for dinner and went to bed early since we had to park by 5 am. We took a bus to the beginning of the race. Matt was able to stretch and find his starting corral, and then I walked to the first mile marker awaiting the beginning of the race. I saw him at mile 1, mile 3, mile 10, mile 16, and mile 26 right before the end of the race. It was easy to spot him because he had a neon green shirt and blue shorts on.
He was amazing! There were tons more people that ran the half marathon, so I was very proud of him for running the full marathon. It inspired me to train, and MAYBE I will run a half marathon the next time he runs a marathon :) It would be cool.
After resting up for a few hours, we went downtown to the marathon concert by Montgomery Gentry, and country music band. We had not heard of them, but it was really fun. We liked Nashville, and thought the downtown was nice.
We came home Sunday morning, and went straight to the dedication session of the Atlanta Temple. President Monson, the prophet and leader of the church, dedicated it and spoke of how much he loved the youth's performance the night before. We had been able to watch it on the internet, so I saw our ward's youth do the Charleston dance they had been practicing for months.
So now you are caught up on April. So far in May, I have finished my semester, and we went and saw the BYU Young Ambassadors perform in the Atlanta Civic Center and give a musical program at the church. Last night we went and celebrated our niece Sydney's birthday. She is 11 years old now!
It has almost been a year since we moved here. Crazy how fast time has gone.
