fun stuff

Yay for friends coming to Georgia!  Two of our friends from college are from Georgia, and came out to visit their families.  They had a baby this past summer, and we hadn't been able to see him.  So met up with Brent and Aubrey Pett, as well as their little guy Colton.  We had a great time catching up with them.

Another recent adventure was the Great Clips 300 NASCAR race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.  Matt got free tickets when he got a haircut.  It was a very unique experience.  We drove an hour and a half south to the speedway and were met with a remarkable site.  A gigantic field filled with RV's.  People had really set up camp.  There were EZ-ups with dangling Christmas lights, American flags on poles, and all sorts of partying.  We parked far away from the speedway so we could get out faster.  As we started walking down the dusty pathway, a worker in a golf cart drove up and offered us a ride to the track.  As we drove past two guys with beer bottles, they shouted "you're going the wrong way?  The party's this way!!!" The worker dropped us off, and we walked in past all the trailers.

The cars were so loud that we could hear them as walked by all the trailers, before we even got through the gates of the building.  Once we got inside, we spent $4 on earplugs and worked our ways to our seats.  When we got there, this was the view.

VERY loud, but very cool.  The people watching was great.  Guys walking up the stairs in overalls without a shirt, and everyone dressed in gear picturing their favorite racers.  It was definitely worth it.
